First EP of The Monkey Company. This band from Madrid tries to convince us that all their live shows are justified because of their songs. Actually, they are absolutely right. Their music is loaded with influences but not meddling with the final result.
Being honest, I have to say that when I listened to the first tune, In This Moment, it had me thinking that I was about to listen to another band afraid of singing, just some other beginners, but it was only an illusion.
On my Way and Attitude are both classic Rock & Roll hits where the band show that they know what they’re doing. Voice, guitars and production go straight to the heart of classic Rock & Roll lovers. Let’s talk about the last two songs.
In Rock n’ Roll we can find remains from the Rolling Stones and The Stooges, loaded of nerve and feeling. The band closes this EP with this masterpiece: Lethargy. Influences like Led Zeppelin and other 70’s bands let us know where their sound comes from. Maybe it would sound too pretentious if I say that they are the next big promise for Spanish rock. No, I won’t step that far, they’re the ONLY promise for Spanish rock. They are called to be something big, because of the quality they offer and their huge respect for Rock & Roll music. Good luck!
